Thirty three-year-old fillies have been included in nominations for Saturday’s 2016 Auraria Stakes (1800m) at Morphettville Racecourse; highlighted by the inclusion of some of the Adelaide Autumn Carnival’s most exciting prospects.
Leading South Australian trainer Phillip Stokes is set to launch a multi-pronged attack on the fillies’ classic after including both Comprende and Coerced Witness in Auraria Stakes nominations.
Comprende has more than stamped herself as one to watch through a short racing career so far; posting two wins and four minors through thirteen competitive starts.
Producing a number of commendable results through spring, the I Am Invincible filly resumed this time for fourth in the Qatar Airways BM64 (1000m) on March 19th; progressing to fifth in the talent-rich Holdfast Insurance Handicap (1250m) before running a close second in the Listed Laelia Stakes (1600m) a fortnight ago.
Coerced Witness failed to fire in the Laelia Stakes last time, but appears as though she will relish a step-up to 1800m in the 2016 Auraria Stakes.
A strong and performer for Stokes over a short summer campaign, the Star Witness filly won the Adelaide Galvanising Maiden (1211m) before repeating the dose in each of The Advertiser Handicap (1310m) and Campolina Stud BM70 (1515m).
C’est Beau Le Vie carries exceptional form into the 2016 Auraria Stakes and appears as though she will be difficult to beat under the conditions of the race.
C’est Beau Le Vie ended her 2015 campaign a luckless eleventh in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) at Flemington, but returned this time for success in the Coopers Handicap (1050m) on February 28th.
Racing fifth in the Seven News Handicap (1200m) on March 14th, the daughter of Bernardini returned to winning form in the Harcourt Adelaide Hills BM75 (1400m) during the Oakbank Festival before taking out the Lealia Stakes last time out.
The 2016 Auraria Stakes final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
